Built to live in, not to be presented.

Tapologo is a private riverside safari home on the banks of the Limpopo River within the Limpopo-Lipadi Wildlife & Wilderness Reserve in Botswana’s Tuli Block, shaped by its setting rather than a predefined lodge model.

It was created over several years by Joerg and Helen Bruuns as a place to slow down, reconnect, and experience the wilderness in a more personal and unhurried way.

Built by people who love this place
Tapologo was conceived, designed, and built as a long-term personal project rather than a commercial template.

It reflects time spent in this landscape, and a desire to create something that belongs to it rather than stands apart from it.

The result is a private home in the wilderness, shaped by use, light, river, and season.

The river by day, wildlife by dusk, and vast starlit silence by night.

A different rhythm of safari
Tapologo is not designed around movement or itineraries.

It is designed around staying.

Guests settle into one place and experience the landscape as it unfolds over time, rather than passing through it.

Wildlife is encountered naturally. Days are unstructured. The river sets the pace.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is staged.

Designed for connection and privacy
Tapologo accommodates up to 10 guests across the main house and two private suites.

It is best understood as a private home in a wilderness setting rather than a traditional lodge.

It works naturally for:

multigenerational families
groups of friends travelling together
exclusive-use stays
experienced safari travellers
guests seeking privacy, space, and flexibility

Within a living conservation landscape
Tapologo sits within a protected wilderness system where conservation, habitat restoration, and low-impact tourism are integral to the long-term functioning of the reserve.

The surrounding landscape forms part of a broader ecological corridor along the Limpopo River, where wildlife moves freely and the natural system remains dominant.

A hippo hide located approximately 100 metres from the house offers close, quiet observation of river life.

Rhino tracking excursions are facilitated by the Anti-Poaching Unit (APU), providing structured access to conservation activity within the reserve.

African wild dogs are frequently encountered within the wider area and are regularly seen on game drives.
